You have to unplug it for a few mins then it works. works well and good quality. Only gripe is that sometimes iphone thinks it's not supported.
It works perfectly in my Subaru. As noted in the product description, if you have this problem, it is almost certainly a wiring problem in your car, which can be resolved by requesting a free ground loop isolator from Kensington.
But, having said that, it works perfectly for me and seems secure once it's plugged in. If I had to come up with any criticism of the LiquidAUX, it would be that the plug seems a little light and flimsy.
My 2008 Subaru STi came with an iPod adapter that was not compatible with my iPhone 3G, so I've used the iPhone's headphone plug, connected to the STi's auxiliary input, and have fiddled with the iPhone's screen controls to start, pause and skip songs. I did not experience any of the buzzing or whining sounds some have reported.
Based on my experience I would recommend the LiquidAUX without hesitation. Not an ideal solution.I was hesitant to buy the LiquidAUX, given some of the negative reviews here, but decided to roll the dice and give it a try.
The connector permits the iPhone to charge and play songs through the STi's sound system, and the remote, which I wasn't sure would be all that great a benefit, really makes it a pleasure to use the iPhone in my car.
The remote sometimes didn't work but would usually reconnect after some fiddling. I did have to add a noise filter in the audio line. It was a fairly good performer. I'll update with the results. Everything was going OK until yesterday.
Kensington was great it has a two year warranty and they are sending out a replacement unit. Too much hassle.Update:I probably should have called first then written. As for sound quality, it's fairly good actually. Move on. It's glued shut and won't just snap back together. If that's the main reason you're looking at this unit. While removing the remote from its mount it "exploded" into its five components. It's not reliable and now it's dead.
I use the adapter for my iPhone 3G almost every day. That helped with everything but the 3G buzz when it checks for email.I'd look for a version with out the remote. I'm still concerned about the construction of the remote, but the company is great. Yesterday when it didn't I thought to check the battery. I'm going to contact Kensington and see if they'll help.
The remote works ok, I've used it on a friends car and it sounds good enough (2009 SEAT) this works as advertised but sounds quieter than the other ipod connection I have, (I think is a griffin), for it to get a loud sound like I like it I have to turn the volume all the way up and it still is not loud enough, I'd say it sounds 40% lower than the cd player in my car (2007 beetle), also there is a humming noise, but I get that with the griffin also, so that's my car's issue.
If I just touched the wires going into the power plug they would crackle and pop and had to be delicately positioned to work. Often times they are right because people rate them with one star because the weren't shipped fast enough or some complaint not related to the product. I didn't have to return the old ones, just trash them. I know people don't like one star reviews and usually mark them as 'not helpful'.
Here's the problems:When the iPhone firmware was updated recently, it caused problems with the remote operating and the message that the product was not iPhone compatible. But I'd rather pay more and have something that actually works properly. If I was within the 30 day window, I would have returned them buth.I am not happy with this purchase.update 6/9/09: Contacted Kensington and they sent a replacement at no charge. They also did not require the defective unit to be returned. I really wanted to like this product. I actually bought both the LiquidAUX kit and the Deluxe kit. Okay, I checked the manufacturer's website and found their workaround. I should have them in 10 to 12 business days.
I really don't understand IndiaEnglish very well). The extension cable (which you need unless your cigarette lighter is right next to your mini plug socket) has the same problem, but not as bad.The Deluxe LiquidAUX kit:This unit relies on a tight fit in your lighter socket, or you won't be able to keep the thing upright. I'm upgrading my review to 2 stars, but no higher because it still shouldn't fail like it did, and Kensington support (in India I suppose) got my phone # wrong, my email wrong, shipped the wrong unit the first time, and took 3 weeks to get it to me. After a short time most of the physical connections loosen up and you need to prop the business end of the adapter against something to keep it from falling.I bought both units in Lightning Deals so the price wasn't as bad as it could be. The message did indeed go away, but the remotes still didn't work.I decided to try my iPod to see if the problem could be caused by the iPhone, but the remotes didn't work with it either. The clamps holding your phone are not very sturdy and difficult to unlatch to get your iPxxxx out.
One to use in my car and one on my motorcycle with my iPhone.I think they worked once or twice with some adjustments. This makes me think they probably have had a lot of problems with these products. My next gripes have to do with the different models:The standard LiquidAUX kit:They must be poorly assembled since the first time I used it it would cut out intermittently. This after providing them with the serial number (written in illegible microscopic print inside the remote). To their credit, they told me they would send me two new remotes (or complete units. Or they got the one unit that happened to be DOA.Not the case here. Called Kensington tech support and they told me (in IndiaEnglish) to try replacing the batteries in remote.
